Legal Counsel, Compliance

Novacap, a leading North American private equity firm with over C $8 billion in assets under management, is seeking for a Legal Counsel, Compliance to join its legal team. You will join a dynamic and thriving firm where you can actively participate in growth. Your role will be to ensure that our transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations, particularly with respect to our obligations arising from our registration to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States.    You will be at the heart of our commitment to excellence and ethics in all our activities. Your contribution will be essential to maintaining our reputation for integrity and professionalism in global markets.

The person who will assume this role will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance, ensuring that Novacap is always a model of integrity and accountability.
  • Work closely with internal teams to integrate compliance policies into all aspects of our business.
  • Ensure rigorous oversight to ensure our policies and procedures are followed.
  • Actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of our internal processes.
  • Manage the regular filing of compliance reports required by the SEC and other regulators.
  • Ensure our compliance schedule is met on a timely and accurate basis, anticipating future needs, and proactively meeting them.
  • Provide regular advice and guidance on all compliance matters, sharing your expertise to ensure we maintain the highest standards of integrity.

Experience and competencies :

  • Law degree.
  • 4-8 years of professional experience in relevant roles.
  • Perfect fluency in English and French, both oral and written.
  • Prior compliance experience, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with ease and efficiency.
  • Financial experience would also be an asset.
